About
Who's behind this, and why
We think most people are sitting on a computer that can already do useful AI work for them, privately and for free. Most guides either assume you're an engineer or skip the part where you find out if it actually works.
So we pick everyday jobs, set them up on a shelf of ordinary home computers, and write down exactly what we did and what happened. If you know this stuff already, the pages are built to be skimmed: the stack and commands are near the top.
Our one rule
We don't publish a claim we can't back up. If we haven't run it, the page says so, and there are no speed numbers on it.
Our computers
Details are on the computers page. They range from an 8 GB Surface laptop to a gaming PC with a 16 GB graphics card and two Apple Silicon MacBook Pros.
